About the event

This workshop offers parents an introduction to Counselling Skills in preparation for further learning or training or as a stand alone interest focused course. The development of professional listening skills will also support learners to develop skills needed in daily life and at work for example in the field of health and social care.

The prevalence of adolescent anxiety and depression, and other Mental Health worries such as self-injury / self-harm / eating disorders has steadily increased and these ‘young people’ are often labelled as underachievers, socially inept, untrustworthy and of low self esteem.

Low levels of self-esteem are often associated with self-destructive behaviour such as violence and crime, alcohol and drug abuse, dropping out of school, and poor academic achievement.

Spending time with Parents / Care-givers facilitates stress recovery, encourages family participation and connection, stimulates development in children and provides opportunities for personal development.

This short Sunday evening course offers essential listening skills and strategies for engaging with your son / daughter to help you, help them to develop self-awareness and build self-esteem and confidence. This course will change how you listen to those in your life and support your relationships to grow and flourish.
